Discounts and presets
The discount library: how to set up a ready-made discount, who to allow it to, and how it shows in reports.
A preset is a discount set up in advance, which the cashier picks with a button instead of working it out in their head.
How to set one up
Enter a name, the amount (a percentage or a sum) and, if needed, restrictions. The preset appears at the register as a button.
Real-life examples: “Staff 30 %”, “Birthday 10 %”, “Business lunch”, “Compensation for waiting”.
Why presets are better than manual discounts
- the cashier does not make calculation mistakes;
- the discount is recalculated by itself when the order changes;
- the report shows exactly which promotion cost how much — not a single “discounts” line;
- the manual discount permission need not be granted at all.
Permissions
Discounts can be applied by whoever has the permission. A manual discount and a preset are different permissions: cashiers are usually allowed presets, and the manual amount is left to the administrator.
Reports
Discounts appear on the dashboard as a separate line and in Control — with names. If the month's discounts are comparable to the profit, that is a reason to look into it before raising prices.
