Shifts in the back office
Shift history, what is in the Z-report, discrepancies, closing a shift remotely.
The section shows all of the venue's shifts: when each was opened, by whom, how much was taken, whether the register balances.
What is in the shift card
- revenue by payment method;
- number of receipts and the average receipt;
- discounts, refunds, closings without payment;
- tips;
- float, cash in, cash out;
- counted cash and the discrepancy;
- a breakdown by employee.
Discrepancy
Calculated by the system: how much cash there should be minus how much the cashier counted. Investigate in order of decreasing frequency: cash out and cash in, refunds, closings without payment, item voids.
Closing remotely
If a shift was left open and the tablet stayed at the venue, the shift can be closed from the back office. The Z-report will be generated, but nobody will count the cash — the discrepancy will remain unknown. So close remotely only the next day, when there is no other way.
Shift modes
A shift can be kept per venue (all registers in one shift, one Z-report) or per employee (each person is responsible for their own register). The first mode is the usual one for a restaurant, the second is for places where cashiers physically work with different drawers.
