Archive and deletion
Why dishes are not physically deleted, how archiving differs from deletion and how to bring an item back.
The system tries not to delete data. There is one reason: last month’s report must show the same figures a year from now.
Three outcomes
When you try to delete an item, the system checks whether it has been used:
| Outcome | When |
|---|---|
| Can be deleted | The item has never been used: no sales, no movements, no external orders |
| Will be archived | There is history: sales, stock movements, website orders |
| Not allowed | The item is part of something live — for example, it has a stock balance |
The reason is always shown in words: it was sold, there are movements, there is a balance, external orders came in.
Archive
An archived item:
- disappears from the register and the website storefront;
- stays in reports for past periods;
- comes back with a button at any time.
Categories, variants and ingredients work the same way.
How to see the archive
The lists have a “Show archived” switch. Items are restored from there too.
Don’t delete the winter menu in summer — archive it. In autumn you’ll bring it back with one tap, together with recipes and prices.
