Tile layout
The order of categories and dishes on the register screen: how to arrange the menu for speed, not alphabetically.
The layout is a separate screen that shows exactly what the cashier will see. Dragging sets the order of categories and of dishes inside them.
Principle
Not alphabetically but by frequency. Coffee and the best sellers go first; seasonal and rare items go last. At rush hour this saves seconds on every order.
Worth remembering
- a tablet fits a limited number of tiles without scrolling — the first screen is the most valuable;
- dishes with photos are found faster than those without;
- categories that are too fine make the cashier jump between levels, categories that are too big make them scroll.
Check
After changing the layout, open the register and enter a typical order. If you had to scroll or search, fix the layout instead of getting used to it.
