Paying with points (UDS)
How to connect an external loyalty programme, how the cashier redeems points, and how it shows in reports.
POSitive has no loyalty programme of its own with cards — this is a decision, not a gap: such programmes live a life of their own, and doing one halfway is worse than not doing it. Instead, the system can accept payment with points from an external programme.
How to turn it on
Payment with points is connected in the payment method settings. After that a separate method appears on the payment screen.
How it works at the register
- The cashier chooses payment with points.
- Enters the guest or the code from the guest's app.
- The system redeems the points in the external programme and covers part of the amount with them.
- The guest pays the rest in the usual way — cash or card.
How it shows in the money
Payment with points goes as a separate line: in the shift, in the Z-report and in the report by payment method. This matters because points are not real money: there is revenue from them, but no cash in the drawer.
A discount reduces the receipt amount, payment with points covers part of it. For reports these are different things: a discount eats into the margin, while points are an obligation to the loyalty programme.
Refund
Refunding a receipt paid with points returns the points to the external programme. Like an ordinary refund, it requires the permission and stays in the log.
