Taxes, service charge and rounding
Three tax modes, the rate, remitting, the service charge and how it all looks on the receipt and in reports.
Tax modes
| Mode | What it means |
|---|---|
| Not counted | There is no tax in the system |
| Included in the price | The menu price already includes tax; the receipt shows it for reference |
| Added on top | A percentage is added to the order total |
Remitted or not
A separate setting: whether you collect tax for the state. It decides whether tax is printed on the receipt and how it shows in the report — as the venue’s money or as money passing through.
Rate
Set as a percentage. Individual dishes can have their own rate if it differs from the general one.
Service charge
A percentage added to the bill. Unlike tips, the service charge is the venue’s money and counts as revenue.
Rounding
Removes small coins from the total: down (in the guest’s favour), up or to the nearest. Reports show how much rounding cost over the period.
Receipts already rung up are not recalculated: they keep the maths of the moment of sale. That is right for history, but the report for the transition month will look odd.
